Fred J. Groene, 84, of 2306 29 1/2 St., Rock Island, died Friday in Oak Glen Home, Coal Valley.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rock Island. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.
Visitation is 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church organ fund.
Mr. Groene was born in Hannibal, Mo. (Or West Ely, Missouri) He married Evelyn Meyers in 1930 (1929) in Clinton, Iowa. She died in 1971.
He had resided in Rock Island the last 50 years and was employed at Farmall Works for 30 years, retiring in 1958.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Bernadine Fred, Herndon, Kan., a son, Richard F., Rock Island, six grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Arthur Herring, Rock Island and Mrs. Amelia Check, Sarasota, Fla.
He was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.
