David Truett Lingerfelt, age 84, of Belmont, was a son to the late John Dewey Lingerfelt Sr. and Beulah Roper Lingerfelt. He was preceded in death by his brothers: J.D., Torrence, Paul, Coyte and Mason Lingerfelt.
Truett was a devoted family man who lived a full life, surrounded by the family he so dearly loved. A native of Belmont, Truett attended Belmont High School where he first met the love of his life and future wife Peggy. Truett later attended Belmont Abbey College and then served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Upon return to civilian life, Truett went on to graduate from Western Carolina University. He had a successful career as a personnel director with such companies as Burlington Industries, Klopmann Mills and Cinderella Knitting. Truett was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Belmont for 60 years where he served the Lord as a Sunday School teacher, Royal Ambassador leader and Deacon Chairman.
Interment in Greenwood Cemetery, Belmont.
