Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend passed away peacefully on July 13, 2015.

She was born May 31, 1922 in Eureka, the sixth of twelve children of John Ernest Hill and Helen Marie McCormick Hill.

She married Thomas Vincent Ivory and they had five children.

"Jerrie" was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. Her deep faith was instilled in her family. She had a particular devotion to Mary, the mother of Jesus, and was known to pray multiple rosaries daily. Her children, grandchildren, and other family members and friends were always glad to know she kept them on her "prayer list."

Throughout her life, she was active in church ministry, with over sixty years at St. Ann Catholic Church in South Salt Lake. She was involved in Ladies Guild, Legion of Mary, Altar Society, Eucharistic adoration, funeral meals, and many other ministries. She was an Associate of the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, and was the Catholic Woman of the Year for her parish in 1999.

She was an excellent cook, and was well known for her pies, and freely shared her recipes. She voluntarily used her gifts of cooking for school lunches and special events at St. Ann's. In later years, she worked as a part-time cook for the Sisters and the Pastor.

She served during World War II in the Women's Army Corps (WAC), which made her eligible in later years for wonderful healthcare and hospice services through the VA.

She had a special love for her grandmother, Ellen Bridget McCormick, who raised her in her early years due to her brother Bill's illness with polio.

She was an early founding member of Weight Watchers. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed her years with the St. Vincent's bowling league.

She is survived by her children, Helen Marie Genetti (Jim) of Boise, Idaho; Catherine Geraldine Wolfer (Monte) of Meridian, Idaho; Thomas James Ivory of Salt Lake City, and Theresa Alice Fredericks (Don) of Geneseo, Illinois; grandchildren, Dave Genetti (Raeann Landreth), Matt Genetti (Mandy), Suzie Hartz (John), and Dan Ivory; great-grandchildren, Coleman and Abby Genetti and Dempsey Hartz; sisters-in-law, Elsie Hill, Kathy Hill, and Colleen Hill; brother-in-law, Bob Chamberlin; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members. Vicki and Larry Canoso were as close to Jerrie as another son and daughter. Their frequent visits were precious to her and she loved them dearly. She had many friends among the CCVI Sisters, and had a special bond with Sister Ernestine Mulvey. Her other friends are too many to mention. She is preceded in death by her husband of forty-seven years, her parents, her son, Daniel Joseph Ivory; grandson, Shane Ivory Horiuchi; her siblings, Helen, Bill, Jean, Bert, Tom, Jack, Dorothy, Ed, Mary, Jim, and Bob; and many sisters and brothers-in-law.

The family really appreciated the excellent care she received from Dr. Byron Bair and the staff at the VA Medical Center, and especially the hospice care team. Special thanks to her son and best friend, Tom. No one could have provided more loving care for her on a daily basis than he did. He was highly honored to be her caregiver.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 17, 2015 in Saint Ann Catholic Church, 450 East 2100 South. A Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 p.m., with a visitation at 6:30 p.m., on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Neil O'Donnell & Sons Mortuary, 372 East 100 South.
Committal: Mount Calvary Cemetery, 4th Avenue and 'T' Street.
