FORT MEADE - LeRoy M. Skipper, age 76, passed away on July 16, 2015 at L.R.M.C. with his family at his side. LeRoy was born in Alturas on August 24, 1938, and went to school in Bartow and Hardee High School in Wauchula. He was active in football and pla-yed with the F.F.A. Band while in school.
Mr. Skipper served in the U.S. Navy on the heavy cruiser, U.S.S. To-ledo. He worked with Ad Weiss Lithograph in Miami until he moved his family back to Fort Me-ade. He was a Fruit Harvesting Coordinator for 34 years with J. A. Step-hens Fruit Harvesting Company. He attended the Family Worship Center in Lakeland. LeRoy pursued many interests and hobbies during his life. He enjoyed talking about his days in the navy, relished time with his family and friends on his porch at home and in North Carolina.
Mr. Skipper is preceded in death by his parents Rev. R. A. and Vera Skipper and his siblings, Elizabeth Gill, Rosie King, Verdon Skipper, and Nina Fralic. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Shirley Radford Skipper; his brother, Norman Skipper (Judy); his sons, Anthony Skipper (Bonnie) and Alan Skipper (Abigail); his grandchildren, Brandon Sackett (Tiffany), Cody Sackett (Randi), Katie Skipper, Elizabeth Skipper, Emily Skipper, Katherine Skipper, and Anna Claire Skipper; and his great grandchildren, Garret Sackett and Kelsey Sackett.
The family will receive friends Monday, July 20, 2015m from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Family Worship Center in Lakeland. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm at the church. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Meade. Condolences to the family at whidden-mcleanfuneralhome.com .
