DANNEBROG — Sheila Lynn Myers, 66, of Dannebrog died on Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at Skilled Care from complications of melanoma.
A musical celebration of Sheila’s life will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island. Dan Naranjo will officiate. Burial of ashes will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.
Sheila Lynn Widga/Tillman was born on July 11, 1949, in Grand Island to Charles and Margy (Hetrick) Widga. She grew up in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1967.
Those left to cherish her memory include her sons and daughters-in-law, Justin and Stephanie S. Myers of Scotia and Jordan and Stephanie R. Myers of Dannebrog; grandchildren, Andrew Myers of Central City and Maggie and Miley Myers of Dannebrog; sister, Charlene (Larry) Myers of North Loup; brothers Robert (Patty) Widga and Craig (Renee) Widga of Grand Island; mother, Margy Tillman of Grand Island; stepbrothers and stepsisters Shirleen Milon, Bill Tillman, and Jerry Tillman of Loveland, Colo., and Judy Dietrich of Greeley, Colo.; stepgrandchildren, Levi Smith of Grand Island, Michelle Kaslon of North Loup and Dillon Kaslon of Scotia; beloved nieces and nephews; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; a special friend, Jerry Gydesen, and his daughters, Leah (Quintin) Kolar, Kare (Corey) Wolinski, and Jenny Graves, along with their children, Shelby and Andrea Kolar, Dakota and Cash Wolinski, and Kala, Kenna, and Kolby Graves, all of Elba.
Sheila was preceded in death by an infant son, Jared; her father, Charles Widga; her stepfather, Chuck Tillman; and her grandparents, Charley and Alice Hetrick.
Sheila began working for the Grand Island Public Schools at Walnut Middle School in the fall of 1967. After 47 years of working at Walnut, Sheila retired in March of 2014 due to failing health. Sheila’s Walnut family knew her as a hard-working and loyal friend. Her commitment to the students’ and staff’s well-being, her upbeat attitude and her sense of humor will be greatly missed!
Sheila lived every single day of her life to the fullest. She loved country music, old time rock ’n’ roll, dancing, playing cards, board games and bowling. Any day where she could be surrounded by her family and friends, while enjoying or dancing to her favorite tunes or playing any number of card or board games, would be considered a fabulous day.
As Sheila gallantly struggled with her health this past month, the love and respect that her family and friends had for her was evident by the continual flow of countless visitors to her hospital room. Many, many people consider it an honor to have known and loved Sheila Myers.
