Helene (Greenman) Manning of Amherst, MA, formerly of Newington, CT, age 94, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2015. She was the widow of Harold W. Manning, her husband of 65 years who passed in 2007. She was born in Norwich, the daughter of Lester and Agnes Greenman.
Mrs. Manning was a graduate of the Norwich Free Academy and the Norwich Business School. She was employed by the Newington Board of Education at Martin Kellogg Middle School for 22 years. Mrs. Manning had served as president of the Newington Garden Club, the Newington Square Dance Club, the Newington Junior Women's Club and was a member of the Newington Historical Society.
She is survived by two sons, a daughter, five grandchildren, and ten great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her siblings Agnes Worcester, Lester and Mary Greenman, and Lucy Backus.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Saturday, July 25th, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Newington. She will be laid to rest with her husband in Center Cemetery, Newington, following the mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice .
