Lucy Allen was born in Barren County, KY, the daughter of John W. and Louisa Willis Allen.

Lucy married John Thomas Veatch. They had 10 children;

During these years the family lived in Harrodsburg, then Lee, Jessamine County and moved back to Harrodsburg.

A great tragedy happened to the family! Sallie married a preach, songwriter, Luther Bridgers, they had 3 children; Luther Hughes Bridgers, age 5, Allen Veatch Bridgers, age 3, and James Marvin Bridgers age 1. While Rev. Bridgers was away preaching a revival, Sallie and her children stay at her parents house, the house caught fire and Sallie and the children died, on March 26, 1911, in Harrodsburg, KY.
