Looking southwest to the road, Donald's marker is shown in the forefround with a flag. His is the only Elwell that is marked. The flip side of the monument seen from the road has his mother's family's name: Yahn.

this is an entry my grandmother, Helen Bellerose Lancette on December 3, 1947 regarding the burial of her son-in-law , Donald Elwell, three years after his death in Germany. It must have been very cold if the guns froze during the gun salute

This is an entry made in my grandmother, Helen Bellrose Lancette's diary, noting that Donald's body arrived in the U.S., 4 years after his death along with other service men. My Grandmother was his mother-in-law.
