MRS. ADELINE FITCH COWING

The death of Mrs. Adeline Fitch Cowing, which occurred Tuesday afternoon at her home in East Bayard street, removes another of Seneca Falls' oldest residents. Mrs. Cowing was a daughter of the late John Fitch and Marianna Thompson, pioneer settlers, her father being a well known millwright, and a prominent member of Trinity Episcopal church. She was born here August 17, 1834, and has always resided here, with the exception of two years spent in Omaha. She was the widow of the late Philo Cowing, whose death occurred over twenty years ago, and who was a member of the Cowing & Cowing Pump Concern. Mrs. Cowing was a woman of quiet manners, a skilled musician, a valued and true friend, and a kind and indulgent neighbor. She was a valued member and the oldest communicant of Trinity Episcopal church, was identified with the Historical Society and was a charter member of the Musical Literary club. Deeply interested in civic affairs, and always generous to an extreme, she will be greatly missed. She leaves no near relatives. The funeral was held from her late home at 1:30 this afternoon, Rev. W.B. Clarke officiating, with interment in Restvale cemetery.
