Mrs. Esther Stecker, 84, of 711 S. State Street, Chilton, died Tuesday, December 8 at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton.

The former Esther Beer, she was born Oct. 14, 1897, in Greenleaf, a daughter of the late Herman and Augusta Hafemann Beer.

On Sept. 21, 1915, she and Ferdinand Stecker were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rantoul.
The couple farmed in the town of Chilton until retiring in 1945 when they moved to Chilton. Mr. Stecker died Jan. 5, 1964.

She was a member of St. Martin Lutheran Church, Chilton, its Ladies Aid Society, the Calumet Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Chilton Senior Citizens.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Vernon (Mildred) Dingeldein of Madison and Mrs. Chester (Myra) Ageen of Colorado City, Colo.; one son, Glen of Johnson City, Tenn.; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Vera Kissinger of Milwaukee. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, four sisters and one brother.

Funeral service were at St. Martin Church, Chilton, with the Rev. Robert Novotney, pastor, officiating. Burial was in Hillside, Chilton.
