OBITUARY OF WM. ELVIS BISHOP
William Elvis Bishop, son of W. W. and Sarah Bishop, was born March 4, 1895, departed this life May 15, 1920, aged 25 years, 2 months and 11 days.
Elvis was the first of a family of 11 children to be called to eternal rest. He was a boy of a very kind disposition and possessed ways and manners that won friends wherever he went. To know him was to love him. He was one who never shirked the responsiblities of life. Whatever befell his lot he took it an a kind and gentle manner.
When his country called, he answered it like a true and nobel American, which he was. He enlisted in the army February 26, 1918 and was honorably discharged at Camp Shelby Miss., May 27, 1919. He performed all the duties of a soldier's life faithfully and it can be truly said that there was never a blot on his army record. After his discharge he came home for a few weeks visit with his old home folks and friends. Not being content to dwell in idleness he went to Detroit, Mich., where he secured employment, at which steadily worked up to the time of the sad accident four weeks ago, which caused his untimely death.
Elvis was a great lover of home and was planning to come this autumn, but little did he or his folks dream of this sad home-coming, which will be his last.
Elvis' character is beyond reproach. His life of honesty, truthfulness and right living is an example of true manhood, that should be followed by his host of friends.
He leaves to mourn their loss, besides a father and mother, five sisters and five brothers.
Funeral services were May 18, Interment in Haralds Prairie cemetery.
