James M Foutch of Ann Arbor, Michigan and formerly of Cookeville, TN passed away on June 16, 2015 at Hillside Terrace Retirement Community. He was 93 years old.

Born on September 21, 1921 in DeKalb County, TN. He was the son of John and Alpha (Smith) Foutch who preceded him in death along with his sister Dorothy (Foutch) Love.

If ever there was a man who deserved the moniker, "Gentleman Jim," it was James Foutch. His kindness, calm demeanor, civility and gentleness were ever present and impressed everyone he met throughout his life.

James was a US Navy veteran serving from 1943 to 1946. He retired from the Warren Auxiliary Plant after 31 years on December 30, 1976. He retired as a senior electrician working mainly on electrical systems of US Military vehicles and tanks. James was an avid reader, gardener and a fix-anything mechanic his entire life. He also loved card games of any sort, dominos and Bingo. He was married to Delia (Robinson) Foutch from August 11, 1942 until her death on March 1, 1984. They had one son, James L. Foutch on July 1, 1943 and he passed on February 14, 2005. James married Mary Edna (Leftwich) Florida on October 20, 1984. They were married for over 25 years until her death on April 24, 2010.

James is survived by his sister Doris Harding, daughter in law, Doreen Foutch, stepson and caregiver Waymon Florida and his wife Mary Florida. Also surviving are stepdaughters Ava Shevlin and Euretta Pierce, three grandchildren, eight step grandchildren and many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews in Michigan, New York, and Smithville, TN.

The service will be at 10 AM on Thursday, June 25, 2015.
