Hubert (Hugh) Joseph Thibodeaux, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Faith Memorial Nursing home, with A-Med Hospice, at age 83 with his family at his side. Hugh was born December 28, 1931, in Church Point, Louisiana.
Hugh left school while in seventh grade as his father became ill and he was needed on the farm. When he was eighteen years old, he and his twin brother Huey joined the U.S. Marine Corps where he served for four years. After honorable discharge, he enrolled at Southwestern Louisiana Institute in Lafayette, Louisiana (now University of Louisiana at Lafayette) There he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. His working career included several chemical plants: Humble Oil/Exxon in Baytown, Texas; Rexene Chemical in Odessa, Texas; Rexene Chemical Plant in Bayport, Texas; and Kaneka Texas of Kaneka Japan in Pasadena, Texas. He was a grass-roots start up manager at the last two plants he worked for. He was a Plant Manager for the last twenty years of his career and loved his work and co-workers. He retired in 1994 as a Plant Manager/Senior Vice President of Kaneka Texas After retirement he enjoyed traveling with Pearl and many of their friends. He loved being with his family, golf, working out, walking, classical guitar, music of all kinds, especially classical, reading, volunteer work for his church and attending Mass as often as he could (almost daily after retirement). Hugh was survived by his beloved wife Pearl Marks Thibodeaux. He is also survived by son Randall Thibodeaux and three children Joshua, Nicole, and Vincent; and by son Jay Thibodeaux and wife Tracy Conway and their son Jay II and wife Fiorela Agusti and their two children Ylla and Liam; and by son Brian Thibodeaux and wife Thanh Nghuen and son Luke; and by daughter Michelle Woods Thibodeaux and husband Bryan Woods and their children Leah, Jeremy, Samuel, Marie, Eric and Emma and grandson Jace; and a sister-in-law Mildred Dugas Thibodeaux and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Thibodeaux is preceded in death by parents Theodore and Agnes Thibodeaux and fourteen siblings and spouses: sister Clemonce and husband Clifton Hollier; Child Thibodeaux who died at birth; brother Gervis and wife Angelle Quebodeaux; sister Gertie; brother Elvin and wife Gertie Hernandez; brother Easton and wife Margaret Robin; brother John Hubert; sister Cecile Vergie (Sr. Odile); sister Rita and husband Stephen Daigle; brother Berchman; brother Floyd and wife Evelyn Zerangue; brother Ferdie and wife Thelma Olivier; brother Lawrence and wife Mabel Gautreaux; twin brother Huey and wife Terradene Richard and many nieces and nephews. Visiting will be at Crowder's Funeral Home Wednesday evening 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Bernadette Church on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. A reception will be held at the TLC building immediately after Mass. Entombment will be after.
