EAST PRAIRIE -- Lonnie Paul Byassee, 73, died at 9:28 a.m. June 13, 2006, in the Missouri Delta Medical Center.

Born Jan. 17, 1933, in Dorena, son of the late Guy and Lucy Doss Byassee, he lived all his life in Mississippi County. He was a retired truck driver and veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include: his former wife, Donna Byassee; one son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Jennifer Grissom of East Prairie; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kelle and Cory Cates and Eva and Allen Hinshaw of East Prairie; one sister, Guynell Thurman of East Prairie; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.

Visitation will begin at 6 p.m. today at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie, where services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday. Marshall Larkins will officiate.

Pallbearers will be: Ronnie Byassee, Guy Byassee, Charles Byassee, Nick Thurman, John Thurman and Mclvan Jones.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Beachie Dean, Sammy Dean, Junior Byassee, Shirley Bard, George Edwards and Phil Tatum.
