Lucy C. Byassee

Mrs. Lucy C. Byassee, age 81 years, 11 months, four days, a resident of East Prairie, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 1977 at 5:50 p.m. in the Host House at Charleston, after an extended illness.

Mrs. Byassee was born August 2, 1895, at Dorena, the daughter of the late Bruce and Kathrine Kelly Doss

On February 28, 1914, she was united in marriage to Guy Thomas Byassee who preceeded in death in 1935. Mrs. Byassee was a member of the Church of Christ and had lived her entire life in Mississippi County.

Surviving are two daughters; Mrs. Pete (Guynell) Thurman and Mrs. Maxine Dean, both of East Prairie; four sons, Thomas and Kelly Byassee, both of Maricopa, Arizona, and Lonnie Paul and J. B. Byassee , both of East Prairie; three sisters, Mrs. Albert (Cassie) Barnhill of Lyles, Tenn., Mrs. Raymond (Marguerite) Allen of East Prairie, and Mrs. Mack (Elois) Jones of Dorena; 23 grandchildren, and 37 great-grandchildren, also a host of other relatives and many friends. Two daughters also preceded in death.

The body lay in state at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Funeral services were held in the Shelby Chapel Saturday , July 9, 1977, at
1:30 p.m. with Bro. Aubrey Wilson, of the Church of Christ of East Prairie officiating. Interment followed in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery. Shelby Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
