Cathy was born to Lee & Joan (Dwight)Graves on March 22, 1958, in Centerville, Iowa. On September 24, 1977, Cathy was united in marriage to Richard Phillips in Cincinnati, Iowa. To this union were two children: Richard & Travis. She received her education from Centerville High School graduating in 1976. Cathy would further her education at Indian Hills Community College, receiving her RN Degree in 1989. She was employed by Monroe County Hospital for a time and later became employed by Care Initiatives Hospice. Cathy loved being a nurse, loved helping people.
Not only did Cathy spend a career taking care of sick people, but she also enjoyed caring for her animals. She enjoyed boating with friends and family, crocheting and crafting. Cathy enjoyed cooking for her family and of course...shopping.
Survivors include her husband, Richard N. Phillips of Cincinnati, children: Richard R. Phillips "Short"(Angela Fuller) of Centerville, Travis N. Phillips (Alec Steele) of Cincinnati, grandson, Tyler Dylan Phillips of Cincinnati, mother, Joan Graves of Cincinnati, Iowa, siblings: Gayla Sue Graves of Cincinnati, Danny Graves (Susan)of Cincinnati and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Lee Graves.
Funeral service will be 10:30 am Tuesday, July 14, 2015, at Thomas Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be all day Monday, July 13, 2015, at Thomas Funeral Home with the family present from 6-8 pm. Memorials may be given to Care Initiatives Hospice.
