Frank was the only child born to Will and Ella Cassin Cundill in Iowa. He arrived in western SD area on March 23, 1911, by railroad immigrant car. He homesteaded 9m south of Firesteel. On Apr 15, 1914, he married Josephine Gormally in an Isabel ceremony.

He was responsible for many of the photographs from this era; especially native Americans and about rodeos. In early 50s he experimented with Kodac color. He sold photograph postcards during the early years.

He held many titles and had been elected to many offices. He held township, school board, rural telephone, Farm Bureau, and Crop Improvement positions. He was a charter member of SD Hereford Association.

He served 3 terms in SD legislature, was on SD Game and Fish Commission and Board of Regents of Education. He was named Eminent Farmer in 1956.

They sold their farm in 1957 and moved into Mobridge. They had no children.
