Melvin H. Bowman, 96, of Ephrata, PA and formerly of Mt. Airy Road, Stevens, PA, died peacefully at Ephrata Manor on Friday, July 10, 2015. He was the husband of the late LaFern Aletha (Zell) Bowman who passed away February 16, 2004. They had been married for 63 years.
Melvin was born near Fivepointville, PA son of the late Martin and Maggie (Hurst) Bowman. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of Peace United Church of Christ in Swartzville, PA.
He worked as a self-employed roofer and siding contractor for 22 years and retired from Woodstream Co. in 1983 after 15 years of employment.
Melvin was a member of the Lancaster County Beagle Club and enjoyed gardening, deer hunting, small game hunting, woodworking, and spending time in the mountains.
