Born to Martin David Helton and Catherine Octavia Fields Helton. Her mother may have died near or possibly at the time of her birth, possibly due to TB or Consumption, as it was known at the time.

Catherine was married to Thomas Rose at an early age. Records indicate Thomas and Catherine, operated a Dairy Farm in Tazewell County. After the death of her husband, Catherine lived out her remaining years in Rowe, Va.

A search was made for a marker for Catherine, in an area identified by Cemetery records. There were other family members - Wilson, in that area or nearby, however, an individual marker for Catherine was not found.
