James Deuel, 91, of Tunkhannock, and formerly of Montrose, passed away on Saturday, Mar. 26, 2011, after a brief illness, at Mercy Tyler Hospital, in Tunkhannock.
He was born in Carneys Point, N.J., to the late Ben F. and Elsie Mae (Miller) Deuel.
He was predeceased by his wife, Harriet Miller Deuel, and step-daughter, Doris Miller.
Surviving is his companion, Theresa Schorr, Tunkhannock; step-son and his wife, John and Arlene Miller, Sewell, N.J.; three sisters and brother-in-law: Mary Wolfanger of Vestal, N.Y., Kay Russo of Vestal, N.Y., and Margie and Lou Hicks of Aubrey, Texas; three step-granddaughters; and many step-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. Jim was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps in the Central Pacific. He retired from DuPont Chemical where he was an inspector. He enjoyed dancing at the VFW and playing pinochle at the senior center with his companion.
A Memorial Service will be held later in May. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, in Hurffville, N.J.
