Martha was the daughter of William Jones and Julia Ann Holman.
She had one sister, Eliza.

She married Joseph James Akers on February 28, 1887 in Ray County, Missouri. They had one son, James Anderson.


FROM THE LAWSON REVIEW ON OCTOBER 28, 1957:

Mrs. Martha Akers, 87, died Saturday at her home north of Rayville, following an illness of seven weeks.
A lifetime Ray County resident, she had lived all of her life in the home where she died. She was born March 1, 1870, a daughter of William Jones of North Carolina and Julia (Holman) Jones, of Ray County.
She was a member of the Old Union Christian Union Church.
On February 28, 1887, she was married to Joseph Akers in Ray County. He died June 6, 1949.
Surviving is one son, James A. Akers, of the home.
Funeral services were held today at the Old Union Church near Lawson. The Rev. Don Crowley officiated. Burial was in Old Union Cemetery. Arrangements by Quest-Lile Funeral Home.
