Dr. Harrison was born September 3, 1924 in Hale Center, Texas, son of Walter Henry and Bessie Mae (Bowen) Harrison. He died Sunday, October 26, 1997, in Chickasha.

Dr. Harrison graduated from Chickasha High School in 1942. He was a select volunteer in the United States Navy, serving in the submarine forces in the Pacific from 1943-1946.

He and Erma Brown were married October 20, 1946 in Chickasha.

Dr. Harrison began his pastoral ministry in 1950. In his early ministry, he pastored in Missouri and started a church in Bremerton, Washington. He later started and pastored the Bible Baptist Church of Ada, Oklahoma. He also pastored Central Baptist Church in Ponca City and the Calvary Baptist Church in Chickasha.

He retired from pastoring in April 1990 after nearly 29 years of ministry at Southwest Baptist Church in Oklahoma City.

After retiring, he and his wife, Erma, moved to the family farm in Chickasha. Dr. Harrison continued to be active in ministry, serving as the staff evangelist at Calvary Baptist Church, Chickasha; Sunday School Administrator at Bible Baptist Church, Chickasha; and teaching at the First Baptist Church, Chickasha.

Throughout his ministry and well into retirement, Dr. Harrison conducted Sunday School clinics and mission conferences throughout the United States. He taught and preached in many seminaries and colleges as a visiting professor. Dr. Harrison's outreach extended around the world with multiple missionary trips to Mexico and India.

Dr. Harrison was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Henry and Bessie Mae Harrison; on sister Beatrice Elliott; and one brother, Dale Harrison.

Survivors include is wife, Erma Harrison of the home; two sons and their wives, Mike and Sharon Harrison of Chickasha, Bruce and Tammy Harrison of Oklahoma City; two daughters and their husbands, Debbie and Rick Webb of Chickasha, Becky and Lee Gameros of Blanchard; three sisters Jewel Stubblefield of Crescent; Genevieve Turner of Oklahoma City, Thelma Rains of Dodge City, Kansas; six granddaughters and seven grandsons.
