Prof. Gustav A. Neubert, director of the Philharmonic Society and Kronthal-Liedentafel Society of this city, died at his home, 15 North Jackson street, Tuesday afternoon.

His death is a great loss to the local musical circles, and is regretted and deplored by all.

Prof. G. A. Neubert was a son of the late Dr. Charles and Mrs. Eva Mathilda Neubert, and was born in Belleville, November 18, 1861. His parents came to Belleville in 1858 from Coburg, Germany. He was educated in the Belleville public schools and later graduated from the Eyser's German Institute in St. Louis. He studied music and piano. Prof. Neubert was a gifted musician.

He directed the Philharmonic Society, the leading musical organization of this city, for 25 years, for 20 years the director of the Kronthal-Liedertafel Society, and was for many years organist of St. Paul's Church. He was a member of the American Federation of Musicians.

He is survived by his sister, Miss Emily Neubert, and brothers, Charles E. and Dr. Adolph Neubert.
