Matthew Agerson Laird, 65, died Saturday at 3:55 a.m. in a Salt Lake hospital of coronary thrombosis.
A son of Dave and Elizabeth Gardner Laird, he was born July 5, 1885, in Bountiful, Davis County. He married Sarah Denton Garrett in Nephi. Mrs. Laird died 16 years ago.
Mr. Laird was a power plant operator employed at Dugway Proving Grounds, and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
Surviving are six sons, Sterl R. Laird, Eureka; Glen M. Laird, Magna; Clarence Laird, Don E. Laird, Salt Lake; Cecil R. Laird, Alvin G. Laird, Ogden; two daughters, Mrs. Hattie Brough, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Deon Brandon, Payson; three brothers, Dave Laird, Provo; Hyrum Laird, Spring Canyon, Carbon County; William Laird, Payson; four sisters, Mrs. Joan King, Payson; Mrs. Kate Steele, Mrs. Agnes Riley, Orem; Mrs. Jessie Johnson, Provo; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services for Matthew A. Laird will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Eureka Ward chapel, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Friends may call at the home of Sterl Laird in Eureka Monday evening and Tuesday prior to services. Interment in Eureka City Cemetery.
