Frances Louise Martin Shirck, 91, of Blue Springs, MO passed away July 1, 2015, at the Villages of Jackson Creek, surrounded by family. She was born June 20, 1924 in Omaha, Nebraska to Joseph W. and Merle E. Martin. She received her Bachelor's degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Omaha and a Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling from UMKC. Frances and her husband John lived and raised their family in Lee's Summit, MO where she taught Spanish at Lee's Summit High School for 26 years until she retired in 1986. She was a member of the Blue Springs Daughters of the American Revolution, the Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of Missouri, and the P.E.O. Survivors include sister, Marjorie Goldsmith; sons, Dave (Sarita) Shirck, Tom Shirck, Jim (Patty) Shirck; daughters, Jan (Brad) Scherzer, Mary Mercer, and Patty Land; grandchildren, Jared Shirck and Marisa Chiodini, Jeff Shirck and Jennifer Knapp, Max Scherzer, Becky Jernigan and Sara VanDonkelaar and Martha Mercer, Jackie Land, and Lanie Shirck; and nine great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 63 years, John; brothers, Grant Martin and Jody Martin; grandson, Alex Scherzer. Memorial service will be held Saturday, July 11, at Langsfords' Funeral Home at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Blue Springs DAR, c/o Kim Alberg, Treasurer, 15 Anchor Drive Lake Tapawingo, MO 64015.
