Marvin “June” Lynch Matthews, age 86, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, June 30th, 2015 at his residence in Stonewood, WV. Born December 20th, 1928 in Hepzibah, WV, the son of the late Earnest Leslie Matthews and Verna Martin Matthews.

Marvin married Virginia “Lucille” May Matthews on July 23rd, 1949 and later had two children together; Deborah and Edwin. Marvin and Lucille were married for 40 years.

Marvin is survived by his grandchildren; Tracy Alfred and husband Casey of Jane Lew,WV; Michael “Mike”Clark and wife Kelli of Hepzibah,WV; Hope Onesti and husband Bob of Florida; Trevor Matthews and companion Sabina of North Carolina and Trey Matthews of North Carolina; great-grandchildren;Kaylee Kirkpatrick and husband Brandon of Fairmont; Victoria “Tori” Vankirk and Joseph Alfred-Rubio of Jane Lew,WV; McKinley Clark, Brookelyn Clark, and Manning Clark, all of Hepzibah, WV; Isaiah Christian and Maria Onesti of Florida, and Daphne Matthews of North Carolina.
In addition to his grandchildren, Marvin is survived by a sister Ruby Casto of Stonewood, son in law Walter Clark, Jr. of Hepzibah, daughter in law Cheryl Matthews of North Carolina and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by his wife Virginia, his children; Deborah Kay Clark and Edwin Lynch Matthews, brothers; Paul Leslie Matthews, Thomas Jefferson Matthews, and infant Clarence Matthews, half brother Howard Matthews and half sister Lillie Matthews.

Marvin was employed with the Harrison County Board of Education Maintenance until his retirement. Marvin, nicknamed “June” by most of his family members, lived a very full life. He was an avid sportsman, loving the outdoors while hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Stonewood Horse Shoe League and enjoyed going to D & P's Restaurant on Wednesdays with all of his buddies. Marvin loved spending time with his family and regularly attended all his children's and grand children's events over the years. He was into sports of all kinds, enjoyed playing cards and board games, and loved to go to Bingo.

Friends will be received Sunday July 5th, 2015 at Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 East Main Street, Clarksburg, WV from 2-8pm. A funeral service will be held Monday July 6th, 2015 at 11am at the funeral home with Rev. Sherman Goodwin presiding. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Clarksburg, WV. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the Peoples Hospice, 327 Medical Park Dr. Bridgeport, WV 26330. Davis-Weaver Funeral Home is honored to serve the Matthews Family during this time.
