Pauls Valley, Oklahoma
July 15, 1901
Wiley Shelton was assaulted and shot by two young desperados because he objected to their tearing down his pasture fence. He died from his injuries the next day, but "not until he had made a dying statement which will probably cause the hanging of the murderers."
Family records indicate Wiley is buried in this cemetery. There was a stone until sometime in the 1940s.
