Native Of County Dies At Age Of 84

Mrs. Elizabeth Dial, who would have been 84 years old today, died at 4 p.m. Wednesday at her home, 420 South Davis street. She was born September 21, 1860, in Wapello county, the daughter of John and Ann Wiley, and spent her entire life in this county, with her residence in Ottumwa for the past 30 years.

She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Elmer Pilcher, Des Moines; Mrs. Fred Quigley, Eldon; Edna Dial, Mrs. Georgia Goodwin, Michael Dial, Grant Dial, and Thomas Dial, all of Ottumwa. She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and by one great-great-grandson. Her husband, Wilson Dial, died in 1921. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Leo and Joseph Dial.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Friday from the Johnson funeral chapel in charge of the Rev. Thurman Bowen, pastor of the Finley Avenue Baptist church. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery.

The pallbearers will be Frank Cockerill, Harold Sumner, Glen Dial, Otto Goodwin, Joseph Goodwin, and Kenneth Goodwin.
