John G. Clausen, the son of John and Ottilia (Deniger) Clausen was born on September 14, 1920 near Kranzburg, South Dakota where he was raised and went to school. He attended agriculture school in Brookings, South Dakota.

He entered the United States Army in 1942 during WWII and came home with many stories.

After his honorable discharge from the Army, he worked in the mines in Climax, Colorado for two and a half years.

John bought a farm south west of Kranzburg and farmed most of his life.

He served on the Kranzburg Township Board and drove school bus for 30 year.

In his very active life he found time to break a few horses to ride and "some got good rides". He played all kinds of sports. John loved to dance spending countless weekends traveling to dance halls in the region, and enjoyed a variety of music. He also enjoyed bowling,playing cards,working puzzles and traveling.

He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Kampeska Aerie #1362, Order of the Eagles,and American Legion in Castlewood, South Dakota.

John G. Clausen passed away at Prairie Lakes Care Center in Watertown on Tuesday, June 13, 2006, at the age of 85.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Isadore, Leo, Alfred and Richard; and one sister, Caroline.

He is survived by one sister Ottilia of Watertown; two nephews, Chuck Clausen of Watertown, and Lloyd McCrehin of Holden, MO; four nieces, Mary Stuckey of Watertown, Patricia Stevens of Commerce, OK, Cara Wise of Rapid City, SD and Martha Wentworth of LaMesa, CA.

Interment in the Holy Rosary Church Cemetery, Kranzburg, SD.
