Everett Eugene Clausen passed away on the morning of June 12th at 9:20 in the morning at his home in Portland Oregon, comforted by his wife and daughter he was 83 years old. He was born September 14, 1931 at home in Burke, South Dakota, one of nine children born to Beulah Francis Hedeen and Carl Ernest Clausen. The family moved to Clarkston Washington in early 1933 where Everett graduated from Clarkston-Adams high school in 1949. Later he trailed his older brothers and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in June 1951. He served aboard the USS Princeton during the Korean War, an Essex class carrier made in the final hours of WWII. He was an aircraft machinist, maintaining several fighter planes including the Vought F4U Corsairs, the Douglass AD-4 Skyraiders and the Grumman F94 Panther, and was honorably discharged in June of 1955. He moved to Portland Oregon and went to work for Stanly Drugs (later Stan labs) where he met his wife Shirley Milan. They were married on the 7th of September 1956 . Everett and his wife Shirley where both avid recreationalist passing their love of boating, waterskiing, camping and fishing along with their love of gardening and sports on to their two children John Paul and April. A keen boxer in his youth, Everett won many of his matches in his hometown gym. Growing up in Clarkston afforded him many avenues for adventure. From rafting the Snake River on a homemade raft with his friend Gordy, to climbing the bluffs that surrounded the town. Everett's attachment to the land helped him to earn a job offer from Mr. Steller of Steller's green house, where he worked until he joined the U.S. Navy. Everett retired in 1993, he worked for Stan labs for over 18 years, 10 of them as a supervisor in there southern California plant. Everett is survived by his wife Shirley Clausen, son John Paul Clausen of Portland, Oregon and daughter April Clausen Luke of Eugene, Oregon, his four grandchildren Willam DeHaven Luke of Queen Creek, Arizona, Kristine Bounketh of Seattle Washington, Malissa Luke-Scaff of Mountain Home, Idaho and Derrick Luke of Eugene, Oregon as well as eight great grandchildren, his sister Marry Ann McMahan of Lander, Wyoming and brother Clinton Clausen of New York City, New York. He was preceded in death by four brothers Richard Hedeen, Melvin Clausen, Carl Clausen Jr, and Delbert Clausen as well as two sisters Belva Feider and Donna Miller. A private memorial service with military honors will be held July 2nd at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland Oregon. In lieu of flowers, the family request that charitable donation be sent to the Alzheimer's Association Oregon Chapter. 1650 Northwest Naito Parkway, Suite 190 Portland, OR. 97209.
