Lucille Kott passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015 morning after declining health at the age of 92. She lived a life of passion, service to community, friendship, and humor, even through her last day on earth. Lucille was born in Fredericksburg, May 24, 1923, the only daughter of a family of 5 siblings. Her father, Erwin Klein, her mother Hulda Gold Klein, and her brothers, Rubin Klein, Hubert Klein, and Alton Klein preceded her in death. Lucille attended elementary school in Stonewall, (where she rode a horse to school most days with her siblings) and high school in Fredericksburg. In addition to studies, she also enjoyed playing basketball on the girl's high school teams. At the age of 18, Lucille left her parent's farm in Stonewall, TX, and enrolled in nurses training at St. Mary's Nursing School in Galveston where she earned her Registered Nurse's certification and cared for servicemen returning from the war. After WW-II was over she married Victor Kott who had just returned from the fighting in Europe. She and Victor had two children, Kevin and Karen, while living in Fredericksburg. In 1950 the new family moved to San Antonio as a result of Victor's new job. After Kevin and Karen started elementary school at St. Peter Prince of the Apostles, Lucille became a second grade teacher there. She stayed in that job for 8 years where she made many friends among St. Peter's parishioners - both with the clergy, faculty, students and parents. For several years she coached girl's softball teams among the 7th and 8th grades. After leaving elementary school teaching, Lucille taught nurses training in downtown San Antonio, and worked at Santa Rosa Children's Hospital. When San Antonio Community Hospital opened, she became Assistant Director of Nurses at the new facility. After retiring from nursing she continued to work part time in various Health Care administrative positions including at St. Luke's Baptist Hospital. Victor passed away in 2001 after 56 years of a happy marriage to Lucille. Throughout her life, Lucille was totally committed to the Catholic Faith. She was a member of St. Peter Prince of the Apostles Catholic Church, served many years as usher for Masses, where she also was active in the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Lucille held several offices in the organization and created décor for all fundraising and social events. For the past eight years, Lucille was very proud to call home the Village at Incarnate Word where she actively participated in social events and several volunteer capacities. Lucille is survived by her daughter, Karen Kott of Waring, TX; her son, Kevin Kott and his wife Patti Tauber, of Austin, TX; grandsons, Jonathan Kott and wife Christy Kott of Pensacola, Florida, and Jason Kott and wife Shannyn Kott; and great-granddaughter, Grace Kott, of Kailua, Hawaii, and step-grandsons, David Feenstra of Chicago, IL, and Daniel Feenstra of East Lansing, MI. She is also survived by her brother Clarence Klein; sisters-in-law, Mary Klein and Jeanette Klein of Stonewall, TX, and Lillian McClure of Corpus Christi, TX, and many nieces and nephews. Friends and family of Lucille will remember her for her energy, spunk, frankness, sense of fashion style, and commitment to her friends, family and her faith. She loved all aspects of sewing, arts and crafts, Pinochle, traveling around the world, and was a strong believer in volunteer work as a cure for most ills. The family would like to express special gratitude to the Staff and Administration of the Village at Incarnate Word, Elizabeth Edenfield, RN and Accountable Aging Care Management, and Nora Valdes, MD for their exceptional care and commitment to Lucille in her final years. Visitation will begin at 6:00 P.M. on Monday, July 6, 2015 at Porter Loring, 1101 McCullough Ave. ROSARY MONDAY JULY 6, 2015 7:00 P.M. PORTER LORING CHAPEL officiated by Brother Fernando Sorolia Delgado. FUNERAL MASS TUESDAY JULY 7, 2015 9:30 A.M. at THE ST.
