A funeral service will be at Oatmeal Church of Christ with burial to follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks, Pflugerville, Texas.
Alta was born on September 2, 1942 in Roscoe, Texas to DeWitt Judson Rhea and Maria Rhea. She worked as a cook for Austin ISD for 24 years where she retired. She then volunteered at the Bertram Library Thrift Store after moving to Bertram until her passing. She was a member of Oatmeal Church of Christ.
She is preceded in death by her parents, DeWitt and Marie Rhea; brothers, Gene Rhea, William Rhea and her grandson, Nicolas Bird.
Alta is survived by her husband of 54 years, Doyal Bird of Bertram; daughter, Linda Barnhardt; two sons, David Bird and William Bird; six grandchildren, two great grandchildren brother Bobby Rhea and sister, Bertha Rhea.
