Hiram "High" Knepper was the son of David and Mary (Geesman) Knepper of Franklin County, Pennsylvania.
In 1862 he removed to Ogle county, ILL. from which he served seven months as a private in the Union army during the Civil War. At the insistence of his brother, Samuel, he removed to Atchison county, MO. in 1877 and settled at a point (now extinct) called Guy, MO; he died there and was buried near Fairfax, MO. Hiram married Frederica "Ricky" Seibert STULL and they were the parents of nine children.
