He was born Nov. 21, 1932, in Kankakee, the son of Charles E. Sr. and Geneva Nance Tedford.
Robert married Shirley A. Gilbert on Jan. 9, 1957, in Kankakee. She preceded him in death Feb. 7, 1996. He then later married Helen Roethlisberger on March 26, 2005, in Eureka Springs, Ark. She survives.
Surviving are one son, Todd Tedford, of Momence; two daughters and one son-in-law, Terri and Tony Sellers, and Tammy Tedford, all of Bradley; three stepsons, Thomas Roethlisberger, of Bryant, Ark., Scott (Belinda) Roethlisberger, of Jonesboro, Ark., and Brad (Lea) Roethlisberger, of Rogers, Ark.; one sister-in-law, Marcia Tedford, of Momence; two grandsons, Travis Sellers and Mac Sellers; and two great-grandchildren, Victoria (Devon) Runner and Jacob Sellers.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, Jack Tedford and Charles E. Tedford Jr.; and two sisters, Maxine Slingerland and Nadine DeGroot.
Bob served in the U.S. Army. He retired from the Ford Stamping Plant, where he worked as an inspector. He enjoyed restoring old cars and watching Westerns. Bob had been a member of Cherokee Village United Methodist Church in Cherokee Village since November 1995.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Monday, May 20, until the 11 a.m. funeral service at the Cotter Funeral Home in Momence. Interment will be in Momence Cemetery.
