Juanita DeBoe Hogan, age 82, of Altavista, died Sunday, June 28, 2015, at Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg. Born April 2, 1933, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Moses L. DeBoe and Dora DeBoe. She was also predeceased by two sons, Michael Barksdale and Harold Barksdale; two brothers, Len DeBoe and Edgar DeBoe; and two sisters, Lena Blair and Mary Smith. Mrs. Hogan was a member of Penuel Baptist Church and was a former employee of Abbott Laboratories. She enjoyed gardening, knitting and quilting. She loved her chicken "Precious." She is survived by her husband of the residence; three daughters, two stepdaughters, two brothers, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at Penuel Baptist Church by the Rev. Carlton R. Gunter and the Rev. Carl Berger. Entombment will follow in Altavista Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at Penuel Baptist Church and other times will be at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Randy Wood, 1101 Bedford Avenue, Altavista.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Penuel Baptist Church, 2770 Wards Road, Altavista, VA 24517.Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, Gretna is assisting the family.
