Rilla Jane Alewine, 85, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, June 25, 2015, at Pine Pointe Hospice in Macon, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Sunday, June 28, 2015, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Fitzgerald, with the Rev. Sonny Pate officiating. Interment will follow in the Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Ben Hill County. The family will receive friends Saturday evening, from 6 to 8, at the funeral home in Fitzgerald.

Mrs. Alewine was born December 23, 1929, in Alapaha, Georgia, to the late Thomas Wilburn and Evie Jane Standridge Eaton. She lived in the community most of her life. Mrs. Alewine worked on the farm and was a former mill spinner for Callaway Mill’s in LaGrange. She was a member of Anderson Memorial Baptist Church.

She is survived by two sons: Billy Haynes of Tifton and Jerry Haynes of Enigma; two daughters: Gloria & Bartley Neugent of Willacochee and Patty Herrin of Fitzgerald; twelve grandchildren and many great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Linzie Johnson Alewine; two brothers: Bartow Eaton, Clayton Eaton; three sisters: Anna E. King, Sally E. Whatley and Lizzie E. Pike; one son: Ellis Wilburn Haynes and the father of her sons: Cline Haynes.
