Gerald "Jerry" or "Botts" Dean Adelmund, age 66, of Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the son of Bert and Caroline (Stickley) Adelmund on September 24, 1951, Waterloo, Iowa. He received his education in Parkersburg, Iowa.

On February 1, 1969, Jerry was united in marriage with Marilyn Hippen at Marilyn’s parents farm, Wellsburg, Iowa. The couple made their home in Ackley for two years and then moved to the Parkersburg area. In 1977 they bought an acreage that included 20 acres of woodland north of Parkersburg, where they loved living for the next 36 years.

Jerry worked at John Deere in Waterloo for 27 years and retired from the foundry in 1999.

July 1st, 2013, they moved to town to their present home in Parkersburg.

Jerry was a member of UAW 838.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and golfing. Botts very much enjoyed having a beer with his family and friends and they often played volleyball and horse shoes in the summer and cards in the winter. Many special family memories were made going camping and fishing on their pontoon boat at “Carolyn’s Cove” on Lake Rathbun.
Every anniversary Botts and Marilyn took their family on fun vacations to Wisconsin. His greatest joy was spending time with his family. Jerry will always be remembered for his great sense of humor and practical jokes.

Botts died Monday, August 6, 2018, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa, from cancer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Terry Reagan; three sisters, Cynthia Adelmund in infancy, Berdie (Dick) Kugel and Sharon (Pete) Peterson; and one brother-in-law, Arnold Hippen.

Botts is survived by his loving wife of 49 ½ years Marilyn Adelmund; three daughters, Tammy (Steph) VanReede of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Teresa (Terry) Gnade of Parkersburg, and Tabitha (Jordan) Estep of Waterloo; three granddaughters, Shanara (Clint) Daniels, Shana Gnade, and Samantha Estep; three step-granddaughters, Dominique, Kayla and Jada; two great-grandsons, Jaxon and Casen Daniels; one brother, Douglas (Susan) Adelmund of Parkersburg; one sister, Rhonda Adelmund of Parkersburg; three sisters-in-law, Ruth Reagan of Oelwein, Donna (Harold) Crosser of Iowa Falls, and Pat Hippen of Flandreau, SD; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Celebration of Life Services will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, at the Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg, burial will be at a later date at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, at the Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Parkersburg.
