Former Vancouver resident Robert F. "Bob" Forgey died Monday, Feb. 8, 1999, at Ocean Beach Hospital in Ilwaco, Wash. He was 84.
Mr. Forgey was born Sept. 1, 1914, in Vancouver and attended Evergreen High School.
He worked at Vancouver Ice and Cold Storage Co. before and after serving in the Navy during World War II. He retired from the company in 1976 after 30 years.
Mr. Forgey was a member of Vancouver Elks Lodge 823.
After his wife, Mable, died in 1982, Mr. Forgey moved to Ocean Park.
An avid golfer, he liked making macrame chairs, traveling, sports, fishing and digging clams.
A stepson, Charles Gray, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Sandra Dornfeld of Yuma, Ariz.; one son, James of Washougal; three brothers, Ralph of Sandy, Ore., Larry of Yakima and Irvin of Camas; two sisters, Ruth Roher of Woodburn, Ore., and Gladys Strode of Portland; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and special companion Blanche Arvidson of Ocean Park.
His body was cremated, and there will be no service. Private inurnment will be in Vancouver. Penttila's Chapel by the Sea in Long Beach is in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to charity of donor's choice.
