Edwin Lang, 76, died Thursday, May 21, 1976, in Hill Country Memorial Hospital where he had been a patient for two days. Funeral services were held Monday, May 24, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Schaetter Funeral Home, and at 3 p.m., in St. Anthony Catholic Church, Harper, with Rev. A. A. Gitter officiating. Burial followed in St. Anthony Cemetery. A rosary service was conducted Sunday, at 7 p.m., by Rev. Gitter in the funeral chapel.
Mr. Lang was a retail grocery and filling station owner in Harper. He was born Sept. 19, 1899, in Gillespie County, the son of Charles J. Lang and Ida Klein Lang. He married Ottilie Ida Brinkrolf in Harper on May 5, 1918, and she preceded him in death October 17, 1971.
Surviving are four daughters and three sons: Adeline, Mrs. Oren Cottle, Harper; Jocelyn, Mrs. John Hughes, Austin; Edwin Lang Jr., Austin; Lillian, Mrs. Norman Sullivan, San Antonio; Joseph Lang, Kerrville; Bernice, Mrs. Robert Spruill, Poquoson, Va.; Paul J. Lang, Harper; 32 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and the following sisters and brother; Arthur Lang, Harper; Amalia, Mrs. Adolph Loth, Fredericksburg; Gertrude, Mrs. Arthur Bernhard, Fredericksburg; Anita, Mrs. Howard Bowers, Austin.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his wife, were a son, Ellis Lang; and one brother, Walter Lang.
Pallbearers were Gene Jones, Harold Jones, Randy Sullivan, David Sullivan, James Birt Lang, Joseph Rodney Lang, Matthew Lang and Keith Spruill.
