Arthur Allen Pennington
A resident of Grove, OK

Pennington, whose home was in Grove, died Friday in a Parsons, Kan., hospital. A retired railroad engineer, he was a pioneer of the Indianapolis community in Custer County. (Believe this to be from a Clinton, Oklahoma newspaper)

Arthur Allen Pennington, 76, of Grove, Oklahoma died 9 December 1955 of a heart attack during a routine physical in a Parsons, Kansas hospital. He was born on 22 March 1879 in Vermont, Illinois. His parents were Joel Judson Pennington and Mary Piert.

On 25 December 1900, Arthur was united in marriage with Mariam Agnes Bowles in Indianapolis, Custer, Oklahoma. From this union were born William Joel, Edna Mae (who would become the first editor of the Cousins' Courier), Arthur Floyd, Gladys Marguerite, Emanuel Lester, Cecil Wesley, and Russell Reck. This marriage ended in divorce.

Arthur was a locomotive engineer for the "Katy", Missouri-Kansas-Texas, railroad.

He later married Alice Irene McCourtney about 1927. A very loving step-mother according to Cecil Pennington and Arthur's children always kept up with her throughout the years. Arthur was preceded in death by his youngest son, Russell Reck, who died in 1945 while serving his country during WWII.

He was buried 12 Dec 1955 at Rose Hill Cemetery, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.(Sent in by Arthur A. Pennington, McKinney, TX, PRA Group #4 Leader and grandson of the deceased.)
