Mary Elgie was baptized 13 Nov 1810 at Burneston, North Yorkshire England. She married 1st James Cleasby (?- 1837) at Long Newton, County Durham, England and 2nd. Thompson Walton (1803-1880) 16 May 1837 at Darlington, County Durham. In the fall of 1851 the family left Liverpool aboard the W. S. Constellation arriving in New York on the 5th of September. They first settled in York Township, Ontario where her brother Thomas lived and later moved to Tuckersmith Township in Huron County where Mary died in 1877. After Mary's death her husband moved in with one of his children at Loomis in Isabella County, Michigan where he died of Heart Disease in February of 1880.
