When this press photo was taken in May 1930, Horace Jr, was president of the Dodge Motorboat and Plane Corporation.

Here's an unusual find...I found this on ebay in July 2006. An original photo of H.E.Dodge Jr. From about 1925. Came from an archive of photos that a photographer was liquidating.

Horace Dodge Jr's 10,000 sq ft. home in Grosse Pointe, MI. It was purchased in 1923 at a cost of $650,000 by his mother Anna for Horace as a wedding present. Horace lived here throughout the year spending his time between Grosse Pointe and Palm Beach until his death in 1963. Known as "Gray House" it was on the shore of Lake St. Clair in Grosse Pointe, MI. To the right of this house was the first "Rose Terrace" built by Horace Sr., in 1910. The original owner of Gray House was Charles Swift, who committed suicide here by hanging himself before the Dodge family purchased it. Under the lawn facing the lake was a tunnel leading to an underground room. Before its demolition in 1985, Gray house was owned by one of the Dodge heirs. The lot is currently a quiet tree lined subdivision.

The 257 ft. Dodge yacht "Delphine" named after Delphine Dodge, Horace Jr's sister. Built by Horace Dodge Sr. in 1920 at Great Lakes Engineering Works, River Rouge near Detroit. Horace Jr's mother gave the yacht to him after Horace Sr. died in 1920 . This photo was taken in the 1960s when Horace Jr's mother put it up for sale after he died. Mrs. H.E Dodge had offers for the yacht but she didn't want to sell it to people who would use it as a "bananna Boat". Delphine had no takers and was eventually Donated in 1967 to the "People to People Health Foundation". The donation gave her a $56,000 tax deduction. One year later Delphine was to be used by the Lundeberg Maryland Seamanship School, who renamed her DAUNTLESS. For nearly 20 years she was to serve as a training ship for merchant seamen. Delphine has since been restored and is now moored in Monoco.

An ailing Horace Dodge Jr. at his divorce proceedings. Since he died before the divorce was finalized, Gregg became his legal widow. Horace's mother Anna paid Gregg $9,000,000 in cash to end it all. By 1978 her settlement was all spent. November 1962

Horace Jr. and his third wife chorus girl Martha(Mickey)Devine Gerlach. She was strangled to death in 1984. At the time of her death she was living in Florida. A son-in-law of from another marriage was a suspect.
