Henry Errett Williams, Sr., of Pauls Valley was born March 27, 1920 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to A. I. And Florence Edith (Caldwell) Williams.

He passed away September 7, 2004 at Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years.

Henry is a Pauls Valley High School graduate. He served from August 29, 1942 until his discharge on November 15, 1945 in the U. S. Army Air Corp during World War II. During his tour of duty he served in the New Guinea Camppaign and received the following citations, medals and awards: American Theater Services Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Service Medal; (1) Bronze Battle Star, Good Conduct Medal, Soldier's Medal GC #116 and Victory Medal.

A special Commendation was also awarded on "...his manner of performance in the execution of his duty on December 19, 1943..." where many lives were saved due to "...his faithfulness in fulfilling his mission of trust and protecting of government property and lives. He is looked upon as an outstanding soldier who places his duty above personal sacrific in the service of his country..." On October 4, 1943 he was awarded the "Ancient Order of the Deep" where he was aboard the U. S. Meteor in the South Pacific War Zone when crossing the equator.

He and Oleta C. Coffey were married in Gainesville, Texas on September 23, 1952.

He was a truck driver and oil field worker. With the exception of his military service and times during his career, Pauls Valley has been Henry's home all of his life and was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ.

Henry was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Oleta Williams on October 24, 1990; 3 brothers, Morey, Maurice, and John Williams; 3 sisters, Goldie Carder, Mary Cochran, and Dorthy Wilson; and a sibling at infancy.

Surviving family include his his son, Henry E. Williams, Jr. and his wife, Dianna of Pauls Valley; 2 grandchildren, Derrick Robert Williams of the U.S. Marines and stationed at Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan; and Henry Errett Williams, III, of Pauls Valley; 1 sister-in-law, Martha Williams of Pauls Valley; 1 brother-in-law, Claude Coffey of Riverside, California; numerous nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 11, 2004 at Stufflebean Chapel officiated by Dr. Jim Crockett. Burial will be at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
