Mrs. Laura Haugen Is Buried At Redfield

Redfield – Laura Haugen, born Apr 16, 1872, to George and Karen Norbeck near Vermillion, Clay county. She was baptized at St Peter's congregation where she was also confirmed. To this fa---, she remained faithful to the end. In 1886 Laura, together with her parents, moved from Clay county to Charles Mix county. There her father helped organized the Frank congregation where he was called to serve as pastor. Here she was active in all church activities, fulfilling her desire to serve her Lord.
On May 10, 1895, she was united in marriage to Mathias Haugen. The following year they established their home on a homestead in Chas Mix county where they lived for 25 years. To this union were added five children, two boys and three girls.
She was a charter member of the Morningside congregation, having been one of the organizers and an active member. She was a devout Christian and her love for her Savior was keenly felt by her children and all those with whom she mingled.
In the spring of 1920 the Haugen family moved to Redfield. In 1939 her husband passed away. Following his death she continued to live in Redfield or with her children until in February, 1951, when she entered the Ebenezer Home, Minneapolis. She enjoyed the Christian fellowship at Ebenezer.
On June 5 the angel of death came peacefully and took her to her eternal rest at the age of 81… (Obituary drops off). 2 Jul 1953.
