Mr. Anderson was the son of Patrick and Johanna Mara Anderson, who came to this country from County Tipperary, Ireland to take up farming around Jamesville and Delphi. After graduating from Onondaga Academy, Mr. Anderson became involved in the coal business, working for three years until he became the secretary of Anson E. Alvord. He remained involved in the latter's business interests until the death of Mr. Alvord, and was named trustee of the Alvord estate. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, the Citizens' Club, and the Bellevue Country Club.
Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife, Mrs. Margaret Hogan Anderson; by three sons, Thomas Adrian, Francis J., and Anson W. Anderson; and five daughters, Mrs. William B. McCarthy, Mrs. Leo Welch, and the Misses Catharine R., Anna C., and Elizabeth Anderson.
Funeral services were at St. Anthony of Padua Church, where a solemn high mass of requiem was celebrated by the Rev. John J. McGraw. Assisting were the Rev. Leon Watkins as deacon, and the Rev. Charles O'Farrell, subdeacon. Rev. Joseph F. Pendergast, Msgr. Charles McEvoy, Rev. Richard J. Shanahan, Rev. Edward Davern, Rev. William J. Moore, and Rev. Jeremiah McCarthy were present in the sanctuary. Honorary bearers were Mr. Anderson's friends and business associates, among them William H. Kelley, Police Chief Martin L. Cadin, Fire Chief Eugene F. Sullivan, Isaac Rosenblum, Joseph Dunfee, Frank Malone, Edward F, Joy, Harry Ostrander, and thirty-two others. Active bearers were Frank Dolan, William Deneen, Dennis Dwyer, Patrick Carroll, James Walsh, John Moore, Robert Farmer, and Joseph Buff.
