Frederick Hartsoe was born in Germany in 1695. He married Margaret in Germany. Immigrated to America on the St. Mark, landing at Philadelphia September 11, 1738. Lived at upper Salford, Philadelphia north of Germantown and moved to Virginia 1753. moved to Orange county, North Carolina after June 20,1771. It is said he died here and is buried at Rocky River Church Cemetery north of Siler City, Chatham county, North Carolina.

1742 soon after his arrival to America he got a land grant from William Penns son in Pa. colony.

June 1,1750 Frederick was living in Ridge Valley, Pa.
He advertised a mill and farm at the same location for sale in 1752.

page 33 June 1, 1752:
Frederick Hertzog offers to sell a mill and farm.
the farm and mill must have been sold before Dec. 18,1753 when he and his son in law Plickerd Seyler appear in the Augusta county,Va records where they remained between their departures from Pa and their appearance in N.C.

Frederick Hartsoe buys 284 acres on Craigs Creek. (had recently purchased 130 acres)

page 89; Bond, bills, ect. due the estate for land purchased by Frederick Hartsoe, December 18,1753.

page 167: on Craigs Creek Henry Holston Jr. was an overseerer from Frederick Hartsoes Mill up and then across a mountain to James Mcafees.

page 460 : June 20, 1771 David Potts- 130 acres on Craigs Creek from Frederick Hartsough.

Frederick and wife Margaret had 3 children:

Catherina Hartsoe born 1725, she married Ulrich Weiss.

Elizabeth Hartsoe born 1727- 1816.

John Phillip Hartsoe born 1730-1830. Married Hannah Crabtree.
