Isaac was the son of Charles and Helen (Stevens) Dodgson. He married Minnie Flory on 24 Dec 1884 in Byron Center, Kent, Michigan. They had five children: Georgiana, Joseph, Inez May, Charles Samuel and Ruby.
Isaac died in 1897 and Minnie died in 1903 leaving four minor children orphaned. Georgianna had married Fred Sewell in 1902. Samuel lived with his Aunt Lillian Schilling. Ruby was placed in the foster care of Myron and Mary Shorten.
