Jun. 17, 1932 - Jun. 11, 2015 Mrs. Doris C. Ridgeway, an Alabama native born in Chickasaw, AL to the late Fletcher Coleman and Susanna Clark Coleman. She is a graduate of historic Mobile County Training School. She received her BS from Alabama State University and her MA from the University of South Alabama. A devoted educator of 30 years she served the youth of our community as a teacher at Stanton Road Elementary, Kate Shepherd Elementary and Maryvale Elementary School. She is preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 42 years, Primus Ridgeway Sr., her brothers, Odell Coleman, Fletcher Coleman, Jr., Frank W. Coleman, sisters, Virginia Coleman Randell and Gracie Coleman Bolden, sisters-in-law, Virgie Lee Coleman of South Bend, ID, Nancy Carrie Ridgeway Allen of Washington DC and Velma Ridgeway Harding of Montgomery, AL, brothers-in-law, Thomas Randell of South Bend, ID, Ben Ridgeway and Dolan Ridgeway of Detroit, MI, James Ridgeway of Washington, DC and devoted cousin, William Bill Clark. Doris will forever be remembered by her devoted son, Primus Ridgeway Jr.; beloved grandsons, Primus Ridgeway III and Jonathan DeWitt Ridgeway; caring and loving sister, Catherine Coleman Smith, (Dr. David J Smith Sr.); sisters-in-law, Lubertha Wells Coleman, Arthalia Ridgeway Davis, Edith Ridgeway Brown, Mildred Ridgeway Fuller of Bridgeport, CT and Minnie Ridgeway of Bedford, VA; brothers-in-law, George Bolden of Mobile AL, Dorothy Coleman of South Bend; a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, colleagues and friends. Her remains will lie in state on Friday, June 19, 2015 from 1pm until 8pm at Small's Mortuary, Mobile, AL. Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2015 from 9am until the 11am funeral hour at Stewart Memorial C.M.E. Church 1266 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Ave. Mobile, AL. Interment will follow in Lawn Haven Cemetery, Theodore, AL. DIGNIFIED AND PROFESSIONAL SERVICES ENTRUSTED TO SMALL'S MORTUARY 950 SOUTH BROAD ST. MOBILE, AL. 36603.
