J. R. Buchanan, 66, of 3221 S. Blackwelder, died Monday at South Community Hospital after a brief illness.
Services will be at 2 pm Wednesday at Kentucky Avenue Baptist Church, with burial in Resthaven Cemetery directed by Vondel L. Smith Mortuary.
Buchanan was a native of Millerton, Okla., who moved to Oklahoma City in 1942 from Valliant, Okla. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Carpenters' Union Number 329.
He was a member of Kentucky Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Sammie, of the home; a son, Kenneth, Wichita, Kan.; four brothers, Claud, Idabel, Cecil, Wright City, Okla.; Hal, Stillwater, and Stephen, El Centro, Calif.; and seven sisters, Mrs. Bess Roberts and Mrs. Virgie Haynes, both of Idabel; Mrs. Maye B. Godsoe, Del City; Mrs. Mary Jo Taylor, Willis, Tex.; Mrs. Sue Buchanan, Valliant, Okla.; Mrs. Nora Henry, Atlanta, Texas, and Mrs. Sara Henry, Texarkana, Texas.
Memorials may be made to the Kentucky Avenue Baptist Church Library Fund.
