MARION J. AXSON
NORTH, SC -- Marion J. Axson, 78, of 1727 Ninety-Six Road, the Sawyerdale Community, died Tuesday at his residence.
The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. Thursday at Hopewell Southern Methodist Church, with the Rev. Randy Fender officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The casket will be placed in the church at 3 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Harvey Williams III, Keith Axson, Ken Boles, Bobby Joe Jackson, Timmy Jackson, and Lyman Fogle. Honorary pallbearers will be stewards and trustees of Hopewell Southern Methodist Church.
Mr. Axson was born in North, a son of the late M. Clarence Axson and Cora Flake Axson. He was a retired carpenter and farmer, and was a member of Hopewell Southern Methodist Church, where he was a member of the board of stewards, a trustee and a Sunday School superintendent.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Frances Boles Axson of the residence; two sons, James Marion Axson and Wayne Axson, both of North; a brother, J.B. Axson of North; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home of North. Friends may call at the residence.
The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice, 630 Carolina Ave. N.E., Orangeburg, SC 29115.
